While browsing around the other day, looking at some information on some upcoming products, I stumbled across this old skool commercial from our friends at Crossfire Inc. Crossfire has been in the game of producing high quality regulators and compressed air tanks for a long time, and this video backs up that statement. Now I’m sure there will be some elitists out there who will disagree with me, but I’m sure that there will also be a lot more people who will agree that:
spells old school. It’s always nice to remember where we come from in order to appreciate the current state of where we are with professional tournament paintball.

The month of June is somewhat of a rest period for paintball players. With only the PSP’s Chicago Open (June 25th through 29th) to worry about, players can dig down hard and prepare themselves for when things kick back into gear in July. For a surprising change, the Millennium Series has just released the field layouts for the third event in Toulouse, France, July 4th through July 6th: the Millennium World Cup.
When compared to London’s field layout, the new design seems to strip away back field cover, while offering more blocking bunkers on both the snake and dorito sides. One of the more interesting things about the field is the way it is setup into two “rings” of defense. Whereas London’s design featured some center field cover, Toulouse’s design strips away most of the center field bunkers in order to implement a second circle around center fifty.

Starting with their January release of restructuring, and continuing on recently by making waves during interviews by saying things that other companies are either afraid to say, or simply won’t, Hybrid Paintball has certainly been a group of busy bees this year.
Much to the delight of Contract Killer Fans, the latest information out of Placentia, California is positive. Hybrid has made some changes internally, and has recently relaunched itself as Modefy’d Sports Group. They have a brand new website showcasing not only their current line of paintball products, but also their line of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) gear as well.

We spoke with Chris Corcino, of Modefy’d, briefly about what is the future of Hybrid / Modefy’d and the Contract Killer line, and he had this to say:
[cc] One of our main goals is to produce some awareness to the sport of paintball. Now working in another industry, MMA, we have realized the hype of sport: the spectacle. That is why people become fans, because they are loyal to the sport and the spectacle.
What’s new? We are working on goals to produce parts still, but on the level of want. We will be working on a lot of collaborative efforts, Smart Parts and Bob Long, like we have done in the past. Clothing is big, gear bags and other new parts as well.
Their website goes into much further detail about the launch of Modefy’d Sports Group, and some strong opinions about the current state of production, media, and news in the paintball industry.
From the website:
THE RE-LAUNCH:
People were wondering what will come of Hybrid technologies and its fame in paintball. We had concentrated some of our efforts to provide our style and imagery in the MMA industry, as we did in paintball, with our clothing line “Contract Killer Clothing”
As for paintball, we are working on new concepts that are designed, like most of our equipment, with originality and forward progression in the sport of paintball.
How? United Front. (more coming soon)
Why MODEFY’D?
We call it growth. A true custom house on paintball markers, which includes our distinct asa’s, our feed-necks (which is knocked off by half of the posers in the industry), our clothing (unmatched and helping the direction of paintball), our custom markers (Traitor series and more coming soon), and our original laser designs that have more copycats than ever (you know who you are fruitcakes!)
We have begun massaging the thought of evolving the line-up. With the current situation within our company, we have created Modefy’d Sports Group. Modefy’d will work primarily on the vision of Hybrid and Contract Killer. This includes diverstiy, unhinged creativity, marketing tools, and co-op programs. All will be used to promote the growth of paintball. (more coming soon)

The NPPL has always been known for its ability to market itself to the public. Whether it be sponsorships from companies not associated with paintball, or television deals with major networks; the NPPL has a current level of publicity and market coverage that the PSP and Millennium series just haven’t aquired yet. With that being said, it is no surprise that they are taking the time and effort to push forward into the frontier of internet media with their in house produced webcast event overviews.
As with their Huntington Beach web cast, the crew at NPPL have released a short overview which takes fans to the second NPPL event in Jacksonville, Florida for a behind the scenes look at some of the games, the players, the fans, and the crew who help make the super seven series the most popular league in America.

We at maxrof are deeply sorry in the delay on this video. one4one’s latest was released a few days ago, and as always it is top notch production. Episode Two of the coverage of NPPL’s second event in Jacksonville shows off some more of the amusing Allstar game, and some great interviews with top players from different teams.
